Cv is one of the capacity factors of the valve defined by JIS B 0100.
As a unique coefficient that indicates the ease of fluid flow, This value is necessary as a guideline for selecting the valve size and adjusting the flow rate.
There are Cv values, Kv values, and Av values for the capacity factors, Cv is commonly used.
When the pressure differential is 1lbf/in2 in a specified operating range (travel), figures are expressed in US gal/min and represent the temperature-fluids of 60 degrees F flowing through the valves.
If the primary and secondary sides have the same differential pressure, the greater Cv, the greater the flow rate through. At the same Cv, the greater the differential between primary and secondary pressures, the greater the flow rate through.
Cv of the fluid flowing through the valve can be calculated by the following equation.
By comparing the calculated Cv with specific Cv to the valve, it is possible to select an appropriate valve size. Please refer to our catalog or contact representatives for Cv specific to our valve.
